Maybe they will be selling your hall off soon and getting everyone ready for the 1:00 meeting you will have at a neighboring hall? Just a guess...

The one oclock meeting
by Steel ini go to a hall (very rarely) with a single cong of about 60 people in a small city of maybe 10000. our board of elders is a bunch of childless weirdos or at least the ones that make an effort.. they recently changed the sunday meeting time from 10/12 to 1/ 3. a number of us are pissed off.
its makes to hard to drive to the city or go to a football game.. i just know the gestopo elders behind the change.
if your life isnt as miserable or pointless as theirs, they arent doing their job.

Disassociation revealed what type of man my father really is.
by Paul Mooney ini began my exit from the jehovah’s witness organization about 5 years.
i was a 4th generation born-in, with all the baggage that comes with having the “spiritual heritage” attached to the group.
i was an elder/bethelite/pioneer/whatever other useless privilege there was, i had no family or friends outside of the organization… my entire life was that org.

At the heart of it, we want our parents to unconditionally love us. When we choose as adults with free will, NOT to live in this cult, we realize who of our loved ones truly love us unconditionally. I'm so glad your father made such an effort to tell you this, great news!

I'm always amused how easy it is for Jws to pick and choose which bible principles they will go by and which they ignore... In this case treat others as you wish to be treated and let your yes mean yes and no no were clearly ignored...

To beard or not to beard...
by Saltheart Foamfollower in...that is the question our circuit overseer asked the elders.
to elaborate, the agenda for the co meeting with the elders had an item about the "beard paragraph" (sept watchtower p21 para 17) which i assumed would be an instruction to not use any with beards on the platform.
instead he genuinely wanted to know if we would recommend a brother if he had a beard but everything else was ok. he kept pressing until he got 100% saying yes - a beard isn't a problem.

What if all JWs had put off having children?
by keyser soze incould the religion have survived?.
i know it was never forbidden, but i remember growing up, how we were encouraged to put it off until the new system, and instead focus on a career in the full time service.. can you imagine if every young jw had chosen to follow that counsel?
it's difficult to imagine the religion being sustainable without the next generation of born-ins..

Also thank you for the quotes blondie... My mother in law actually told me that the society- she still calls it that...never said that we shouldn't have kids... Now I have some proof to show her because I did not feel like searching for the proof I knew was there...

Yes, my husband and I were also one of those couples that stupidly listened to the advise not to have kids...10 years into being married I noticed all the planned children other couples in our circuit were having and it really confused me...now that we are awake I feel we are too old and confused as to what the hell we would even teach these kids that we are just content to live our lives happy and free of the cult...😔

My question is: did they disclose to the volunteers working there about this risk to their health? Anyone on this board know that answer?

Update: Got my Judicial Committee cancelled
by Sanchy inoriginal thread here.
update: so, after the meeting i had with elders a few weeks ago as outlined in my original thread, they met as a body and once again called to tell me that after considering my case they still thought a judicial committee should be held against me and asked to be there "thursday at 7:30".
all of this, i remind you, because of posting coc on facebook.

When you were fully in, did you believe that you would not die?
by TTWSYF ini know that it must seem silly to ask, but my brother and his family think that the big a will arrive before they die.
i tried to explain to my brother that everyone else who has ever lived in the past has died and only jesus has [physically] rose from the dead.. it is amazing that anyone could buy that line.
what crazy cult culture that could make people believe such nonsense?!.

This is an excellent topic... I was a born in and totally believed I would not die. One of my first doubts was why would I be priveledged to live forever just because I was born in...which led to the doubt that God would destroy non Jws...didn't seem like perfect justice to me... I agree with you dunedain it is really hard to swallow the society induced prohibition on having children and realizing that was a fatal mistake too late...problem for me now in my 40s is it too late? and I'm so screwed up about what I really believe- what would I teach a child- If I have no clue?? Children of the world are taught from a young age to accept death as a natural part of life...children raised in this cult as it was well said already are taught that it is a lack of faith... I really needed to hear that tonight because it makes me realize how very screwed up this cult is...thank you everyone for all your comments...I wish I could properly introduce myself and tell my story but I am not ready to be d-fed due to all our family in... 😔

My parents converted in their 20's back in late 70's. They had been raised Catholic and the "truth" had the ring of truth and bible understanding they were craving. They were hippies and had this idealistic view of the future that the paradise hope fed for them then. The problem is that the religion they joined then is NOT the religion that it is now...
